Our Research Framework

The ISCOME™ workgroup research teams pursue three main objectives: (1) Knowledge integration, (2) data sharing, and (2) knowledge generation. On the first track, the team members calibrate their interdisciplinary perspectives on patient safety and generate joint publications on theoretical and empirical intersections to extend the current knowledge and practice standards. Numerous collaborative papers will be initiated on this track, identifying how the disciplines can together inform areas of medical practice in which human error is common, particularly diagnosis, team conflict interactions, and handoffs. On the second track, teams work together to shed a new interdisciplinary perspective on existing data sets. The third track entails the generation of new knowledge and empirical evidence to the field. On this third track, teams generate grant proposals that contribute new evidence to the field because they place interdisciplinarity at the root of new data collections.
